Levels of SCADA Programming
SCADA programming occurs at different levels within the system:
-
Level 0 (Field Devices):
- Field devices include sensors (e.g., flow and temperature sensors) and final control elements (e.g., control valves).
- These devices directly interact with the physical process.
-
Level 1 (I/O Modules):
- Industrial input/output (I/O) modules and their associated electronic processors reside at this level.
- They handle data exchange between field devices and higher levels.
-
Level 2 (Supervisory Computers):
- Supervisory computers collect information from processor nodes.
- Operators use HMIs to monitor processes and issue commands.
-
Level 3 (Production Control):
- Monitors production targets and overall performance.
- Not directly involved in process control.
-
Level 4 (Production Scheduling):
- Deals with production planning and scheduling.
