About SCADA - Part 2

Levels of SCADA Programming

SCADA programming occurs at different levels within the system:

  1. Level 0 (Field Devices):

    • Field devices include sensors (e.g., flow and temperature sensors) and final control elements (e.g., control valves).
    • These devices directly interact with the physical process.
  2. Level 1 (I/O Modules):

    • Industrial input/output (I/O) modules and their associated electronic processors reside at this level.
    • They handle data exchange between field devices and higher levels.
  3. Level 2 (Supervisory Computers):

    • Supervisory computers collect information from processor nodes.
    • Operators use HMIs to monitor processes and issue commands.
  4. Level 3 (Production Control):

    • Monitors production targets and overall performance.
    • Not directly involved in process control.
  5. Level 4 (Production Scheduling):

    • Deals with production planning and scheduling.
